The future of Sweden's electricity supply is crucial for the country's prosperity and the successful implementation of climate transition by businesses. Large necessary investments won't happen without confidence in the Swedish electricity system's ability to provide reliable and affordable fossil-free power.

What occurs in Swedish businesses significantly affects global climate efforts. Swedish exports already replace polluting production in other nations, reducing around 25 million tonnes of CO2 emissions. This impact could grow with the right conditions. Significant investment plans have been announced for Sweden's business climate transition, showcasing the nation's strength and high expectations for meeting future business needs. Neglecting these expectations isn't an option.

It's not just industrial exports cutting emissions; Swedish expertise and technology being adopted worldwide also contribute to the global climate transition. Surveys among member companies of the Swedish Business Association reveal that current electricity system deficiencies are hindering investments. Companies are forced to invest in their own power supply due to uncertainty, creating obstacles for climate efforts.

This update, part of the Power collection electricity supply project, revises a scenario analysis from September 2020. The updated analysis anticipates increased electricity demand and adjusts the timeline slightly, based on calculations for a 290 TWh electricity use in 2050.
