Long-term scenario analysis

This study is a follow-up within the sub-project "Long-term Scenario Analysis" within the Swedish Confederation of Enterprise's project Power collection Electricity supply. The objective of this follow-up study is to describe which support services are needed in the two different systems, technology-neutral or fully renewable, as presented in the report "Long-term scenario analysis 240 TWh" and the additional cost to accommodate this.

Support services are a collective term for functions that are provided to support and stabilize the power system and they are needed, among other things, to reliably transfer electricity from producers to consumers. As the proportion of weather-dependent production increases in the system, the need for support services also grows - among other things to compensate for the large frequency changes that occur in production.

Within the framework of the Kraftsamling Electricity Supply project, Qvist Consulting, with the help of a large number of experts on the Swedish electricity system and international experts on power system optimization, produced the report 'Long-term Scenario Analysis' for Swedish Business. The report investigates how the future Swedish electricity system can enable a competitive and fossil-free economy in the long term. The modeling minimizes investments and operating costs from given input values. The basis will be used to develop the necessary concrete recommendations for Sweden to be able to transition to a fossil-free society.
